Saturday 20th August saw the third Wike Ridge Ladies’ Welcome Day up at Leeds Golf Centre. The ladies section do a wonderful job running these events welcoming new members and prospective members alike, and this one was no exception. Enid Gott, the Lady Captain, emailed to tell us about the day.
21 NEWCOMERS
Despite the seasonally mixed forecast the ladies rallied round to welcome 21 non-members including 17 newcomers. Of course no club day would be complete without a raffle in which a fantastic £217 was raised for ladies funds – special mention going to Linda Mortimer who sales techniques would have kept her out of the boardroom on The Apprentice!
PLAY, SHOP & BOOK
Despite the dodgy forecast, everyone enjoyed the friendly competition on The Oaks short-course in warm, sunny conditions. Buoyed by the good golf conditions, the ladies retired to the clubhouse where some partook a bit of retail therapy in the Pro Shop whilst some newcomers booked a few lessons.
