What a week last week was! With strong winds and over 30mm of rain, we encountered some of the worst weather I can remember for a good few years.
These blustery conditions made for some fast work in securing (and in some cases re-planting) the trees we’ve transplanted in the past few weeks – we’re currently doing about 30 each day so it hopefully shouldn’t be too long until we’re done. The greenkeeping team will be carrying on with this work in the coming weeks so please bear with us.
We’ve also spent a lot of time making good the buggy paths – several of these were used by heavy machinery throughout November but the majority have now been reinstated so we can all get round the course safely. Again, this work will be finished in the next week or so.
In the week ahead, weather permitting, we will be slit tining the greens, tees, tongues and collars to help any surface water disperse into the soil and encourage these sensitive areas to dry a bit quicker. We will also be starting to rope off some of the areas around greens and tees to preserve the course ahead of Spring.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all members of Leeds Golf Centre a very merry Christmas and happy New Year – all the very best for 2012!
