It looks as if the weather this week is going to give the green keeping team a bit of a break with last week’s cold snap behind us. So this week Brian, our head green keeper brings us his report of planned works:
“Last week was one of the coldest weeks of the year with air temperatures of -5C on Thursday which caused ground temperatures to drop to just 2C on Friday.
This week looks a milder which should allow us to carry on with the shockwave treatments to general areas and fairways. We will also be aiming to complete the drainage to the front of the 16th green which is a delayed job from last week due to the cold ground conditions.
This week we will be hand cutting the greens for the last time in 2012 as well as the tees and collars. In addition to this we will be pruning the trees around the new 4th green which we started last week.
Let’s hope that the promised warmer and drier weather comes to pass!
Other regular & additional work that we will be doing this week is:
- Fill and turf the drain line on 5th fairway
- Check and re-point all white lining
- Check and fill grit bin
- Finish 16th drain
- De-plug the range
- Divot club lawns”
