LEEDS GOLF CENTRE HAILS NEW ELITE ACADEMY
Leeds Golf Centre’s impressive transformation received further plaudits last week as a number of top-flight amateur and professional golfers attended its all-new ‘Elite Academy’ for the first time.
Following a multi-million pound investment by new owners, Parklane Properties, Leeds Golf Centre’s reputation has taken another huge leap thanks to the launch of an initiative focussed on its state-of-the-art tuition facilities. The aptly named ‘Elite Academy’ is open to golfers playing off a handicap of two or better, with the desire to improve and compete at the game’s highest levels being a prerequisite for acceptance onto the programme.
Under the watchful expert eye of top PGA coach, Mark Moore, the group – which includes European Tour winner, John Parry, and the current South of England amateur champ, Will Shucksmith – meets once a month to share ideas and technical knowhow regarding golf swing mechanics and sports psychology.
The Elite Academy’s principal aim is the pursuit of improved on-course performance – however, as Mark points out, it’s not just technique and physical conditioning that receives attention: “One of our key work areas is philosophy – those who play competitively will know that golf is as much a battle of will as it is of pure ability and this group understands that ‘attitude’ is a hugely valuable characteristic.”
“Of course, the facilities here at Leeds Golf Centre are second-to-none – using the FlightScope swing studios gives tremendous insight relating to swing dynamics and ball flight, whilst the outdoor practice areas enable us to work on repetition and imitate the kind of circumstances these players experience week in week out under tournament conditions, ” he added.
