SWEET MAINTAINS WINNING FORM
Leeds Golf Centre’s Operations Manager, Nigel Sweet, has maintained his excellent form so far this year by claiming the Welsh Mid-Amateur Championship at Royal St David’s just weeks after winning the French Mid-Amateur Team Championships a fortnight earlier.
Renowned as one of the UK’s toughest Par-69s, this tremendous links course in Snowdonia played host to some of the worst weather competitors had ever played in, yet Nigel sneaked home with a one-shot margin despite shooting a 10-over 79 in the worst of the conditions on Friday.
In another coup for Leeds Golf Centre, the second-place finisher (Wayne Crick from Oakdale Golf Club) had a lesson with Academy Manager, Andy Herridge, before taking part in the event.
The Leeds Golf Centre team would like to congratulate Nigel for his remarkable international-beating season so far!

JUNIOR TEAM TRIUMPHANT
Yet more success for Wike Ridge Golf Club last week as its impressive junior team stormed to victory by 6 shots in the Leeds & District Union Junior Team Championships at Wetherby.
The team – comprising of Alex Harvey, Cameron Ogg and Charlie Kay – now has its sight set on achieving promotion to Division 1 of the LDU Junior League this season. And with form of the kind shown last week, few would bet against it.
One of Wike Ridge Golf Club’s junior section promoters, Gary Hirst, commented: “It’s a terrific achievement for the lads, especially because all scores counted – there was no room for a weak link. They’re the first team to achieve this feat from Wike Ridge Golf Club and they should all be very proud. I would like to thank everyone at Leeds Golf Centre who continues to teach, support and encourage our juniors – with this kind of backing, I am sure there will be many more successes in future.”
