A brand-new competitive golf tournament for Leeds’ business community has today been unveiled by Leeds Golf Centre.
The inaugural Leeds Corporate Golf League – a unique competition that will see 16 teams competing predominantly from the professional services and property sectors – has been designed to offer an alternative to standard corporate golf days.
Played fortnightly on Wednesday evenings from May this year, the exciting initiative utilises the highly acclaimed ‘PowerPlay Golf’ format where not one but two flags are sited on each green (one ‘easy’ and one ‘hard’). Played over The Oaks par-3 course, participants are tasked with a risk/reward decision on each of the 12 holes in order to avenge or simply outsmart their opponents – the resulting contests often being more entertaining and dramatic than a typical 18-hole competition.
Costing just £600 plus VAT for the season, teams will be competing for a prize fund exceeding £2000 with golf equipment, PGA professional coaching at Leeds Golf Centre’s renowned Academy and vouchers for Nineteen Bar & Grill all on offer.
Leigh Tasker, Business Development Manager at Leeds Golf Centre and tournament organiser, commented: “The beauty of this concept is that it’s more flexible and far less costly than a typical corporate golf day. Players will complete their rounds in about two hours and teams can consist of four different players at each of the six league matchdays – the point here being that companies can engage better on a one-to-one basis with their guests whilst obviously enjoying some post-match networking with other teams too.”

In just 12 months, Parklane Properties has totally transformed Leeds Golf Centre thanks to an unprecedented multi-million pound investment programme. Rescuing the business from administration in February 2011, the company – better known for its estate agency, student lettings and property development businesses – has upgraded the facility’s golf courses, car park, Pro Shop, changing rooms and shower/WC facilities as well as adding two superb high-tech swing studios and more recently, the brand-new Nineteen Bar & Grill.
Leeds Corporate Golf League matches will be held fortnightly on Wednesday evenings from May to August, with matchday tee times from 4pm.
