Over 120 members, representing the Tiger Cubs, Juniors, Veterans, Ladies and Mens sections of Wike Ridge Golf Club packed the Oaks Room late last month to celebrate its golfing achievers of 2012.

Congratulations to the many individuals who received trophies and plaques for their competition victories but especially to Joe Bagshaw and Deborah Spry who were acknowledged as the golfers of the year.

Stars of the show though were the youngsters who not only scooped many competition trophies in 2012 but were applauded for their most successful season ever in the Leeds and District Union competitions being beaten finalists in the LDU Junior Knockout Cup, winning the LDU Junior Team Competition at Wetherby and winning division two of the LDU Junior League and thus gaining promotion to the top flight for next year.

In recognition of these achievements and his significant contribution to the Junior section over many years, Gary Hirst was presented with the annual Wike Ridge Golf Club ‘Award for Outstanding Service’.

It was a truly memorable evening with many thanks going to the generosity of Nineteen Bar & Grill who supplied half-price drinks at the event as a ‘thank you’ to members for their support during the year.
