The Leeds Golf Centre Academy Is Growing As We Grow The Game
We are passionate about golf. We want to grow the game of golf and help people excel once they are in the game. Right now, the Academy is buzzing with activity, new players young and old are getting involved, we’re developing our junior and elite golfers, and our Academy manager and ever busy PGA Professional, Joe Feather, continues to lead the Academy towards the goal of being the best academy in the north of the UK.
It is with great pleasure that we announce some new appointments to the academy staff, and development of the roles of some of the other coaches.
Welcome Duncan McCarthy, Our New Official Performance Coach.
The Academy is pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Duncan McCarthy of Ignite Sports. Duncan will now be based at LGC as our Performance Coach and we look forward to welcoming his clients, many of whom compete professionally around Europe. Duncan will also be playing a key role in developing our Academy, especially junior development.
Duncan’s background is in sports psychology and fitness and in 2008 he founded Ignite Sports. He works with his clients on these two key areas and it enables LGC to offer customers at the Academy a complete package all under one roof.
Away from golf, Duncan works with other sports people, including footballers, gymnasts, swimmers and snooker players. He also works with schools and their sports students and provides talks to local businesses on improving sporting performance.
We have a fantastic team of coaches at the Academy and with Duncan now being our official Performance Coach, it gives the Academy a full set of coaches that complement each other in every aspect of this ever evolving game. It will be great to have him based here at LGC and the combination of his drive to improve and progress, as well as our ambition at LGC, will create and exciting few months and years ahead at LGC.
You will now be able to book in with Duncan through the Leeds Golf Centre reception just as you do with our PGA teaching professionals. Ellie Robinson Take Up Full Time Coaching Role
You all know Ellie. She completed her PGA training last summer and is now a fully qualified PGA Professional. Previously, Ellie split her time between her retail work in the awesome Leeds Golf Centre shop and her coaching. But, increased demand for lessons with Ellie has meant she will now be cutting down her time in the shop to focus on coaching and aiding our never ending commitment to make golf accessible and fun for all.
Ellie is an amazing coach and a great ambassador for the game and her work in the academy has already been instrumental to its success. She is so passionate about getting ladies and girls into golf, her work with the junior academy is second to none, and her clear and fun coaching style has led to her being a very popular golf coach.
From now on Ellie will have spaces for some new regular students, so if you have been trying to book in with Ellie but couldn’t get in the diary, be sure to snap up one of her new available slots while they last.

Nathan Seal Is Our New PGA Trainee Professional
When we advertised for a young, enthusiastic golfer looking to train as a PGA professional, we had dozens and dozens of applicants. We also had lots of worthy candidates. But Nathan’s credentials and his calm and capable persona, on top of his golfing acumen, made him the clear cut best candidate for the job.
While doing his training, and learning his craft in the retail environment of the LGC pro shop, Nathan is learning the ropes as a coach. Nathan will mainly be working with the junior academy, delivering fun filled and informative sessions on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons. He will also be coaching a small number of individuals, at a cheaper rate than our qualified PGA professionals. So if you’re a stickler for a bargain, and want to witness a great coach in the making, get in touch with Nathan for a lesson.
