End of Season Presentation Night – A Celebration of Achievement, Community and Club Spirit

What a fantastic night our End of Season Presentation turned out to be – although it certainly didn’t begin quite as expected, with an unplanned stint behind the bar to kick things off for Joe! If anything, that spontaneous start set the tone for an evening filled with laughter, camaraderie, and the kind of togetherness that makes our club truly special. Nights like these remind us why Leeds Golf Centre continues to be the number one choice for golfers in Leeds, Harrogate and York, offering not only great facilities but an unmatched community spirit.

As always, the juniors opened the ceremony, providing a heart-warming beginning to the celebrations. Their incredible enthusiasm, impressive progress, and willingness to compete with confidence and sportsmanship never fail to inspire us. This year has seen some exceptional junior performances, reflecting the continued growth of our flourishing Leeds Golf Academy, which remains a huge source of pride for everyone at the club. The dedication of our young players, paired with the coaching and support they receive, gives us every confidence that they’ll take on the winter’s hard work with determination and come back even stronger next season. We wish each of them the best of luck over the colder months and cannot wait to see what they achieve in the year ahead.

The main presentation ceremony was superbly organised, thanks to the brilliant efforts of Helen and Jeff, supported throughout by Captains Joan and Les. Their commitment to delivering a well-run, engaging and memorable evening truly paid off. It takes immense effort to coordinate an event like this, and they executed it flawlessly; just as they have supported the club throughout the entire season. A huge thank you goes not only to them but also to the full committee and all the volunteers whose contributions, both visible and behind the scenes, help keep the club running smoothly all year long. From competitions and course management to events, communication and community activities, their tireless work ensures that members and visitors alike enjoy the very best experience possible.

Special recognition must go to Jeff Laverack, who was honoured with this year’s Outstanding Contribution Award – a thoroughly deserved accolade. Jeff’s unwavering dedication, particularly in his role as Competition Secretary, has been instrumental in shaping the positive, organised, and enjoyable golfing environment we all benefit from at the best golf club in Leeds. His commitment extends far beyond what is required, and the entire club is grateful for his passion, consistency, and ongoing support. Congratulations again, Jeff. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and the award is a reflection of how highly you are regarded within our golfing community.

As the evening continued, it was wonderful to see members from every corner of the club come together; long-standing members, newer faces, committee representatives, volunteers, and visitors who return year after year. We are immensely proud of this sense of unity, and we are grateful for everyone who plays a part in it. Our membership base is the heartbeat of Leeds Golf Centre, and it is thanks to your enthusiasm, loyalty, and encouragement that the club continues to go from strength to strength. Visitors and guests also contribute so much to the atmosphere and energy around the course and facilities, and we are always delighted to welcome familiar faces back.

This season has been full of achievements, individual milestones, and team successes, but just as importantly, it has been a year of friendships strengthened, skills developed, and memories made. Whether you’ve lifted silverware, knocked shots off your handicap, played your first competition, enjoyed a social round, or simply supported others along the way, you’ve helped shape another fantastic year at the club.

And, as always, the strength of our Leeds Golf Academy has been central to that success. It continues to grow in reputation, quality, and impact, helping golfers of every age and ability to improve, gain confidence and fall deeper in love with the game. We are incredibly proud of the coaches, the players, and the supportive community around it.

As we close the chapter on one season and look ahead to the next, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone connected with Leeds Golf Centre – members, staff, committee members, volunteers, visitors, juniors, families and supporters. It’s your passion and commitment that ensure our club remains the trusted, welcoming and vibrant home of golf for players across Leeds, Harrogate, and York.

Here’s to a productive winter, a refreshed start in the spring, and another year of success both on and off the course. We can’t wait to see what 2026 brings. Cheers to everyone who made this season (and our wonderful presentation night) one to remember!
